THE HAZARD PAY IS GONE. THE HAZARD IS NOT!
After months of negotiating to keep hazard pay beyond July 4th, Stop and Shop announced they will discontinue the hazard pay premium for all employees despite the growing number of COVID-19 infection cases around the country.
Speaking Together We Can Stand Up for Our Essential Grocery Workers:
- Our members continue to put their health and safety on the line in exchange for regular pay only.
- Stop and Shop continues to rake in millions of dollars in profit during the pandemic, yet they refuse to share the profits with its loyal employees.
- Masks, social distancing and other safety measures are still in effect and so should the hazard pay.

As a loyal customer, I am writing to express my concern with your decision to stop taking care of our workers at Stop & Shop!
I believe that Stop & Shop has a duty to preserve the health and well-being of its workers by providing hazard pay. These are dedicated workers who put their lives at risk in all stores across New England, New York and New Jersey. The threat of COVID-19 is still raging worldwide especially here in the United States, where cases are on the rise. I believe Stop & Shop should continue to provide its workers with essential benefits for their efforts and risk- including hazard pay, until this threat is no longer here.
I stand with our essential worker who are risking their lives and their loved ones to take care of our communities.
