Our congratulations go to this year’s seniors for being selected as the 2024 UFCW Local 1459 Scholarship Fund Recipients. They have been awarded a grant from among many students who applied for this scholarship.
Natalie is the daughter of Local 1459 member Joe Bianco, who works at Stop & Shop. She graduated from Belchertown High School in 2024 and will be attending the University of Massachusetts. Natalie plans on becoming a Physical Therapist.
Nicholas is the son of Local 1459 member Annette Kendra, is a nurse in the Chicopee Public Schools. He graduated from Chicopee High School in 2024 and will be attending Marist College. Nicholas going to major in cyber security with a minor in Computer Science.
Arianna is the daughter of Local 1459 member Richard Manzi, who works for Stop & Shop. She graduated from Agawam High School in 2024 and will be attending Westfield State University. Arianna will major in Business Management.
Eliza is the daughter of Local 1459 member Jorge Ortiz, who works for Springfield DPW. She graduated from Putnam Vocational Technical Academy in 2023 and is attending Western New England University. Eliza is looking to have a career in Criminal Justice.
Morgan is the daughter of Local 1459 member Jason Patla, who works at Westover Reserve Air Base. She graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 2023 and is attending the University of New Hampshire. Morgan is majoring in Human Development and Family Studies. She plans on being an Elementary Teacher.
Victoria is the daughter of Local 1459 member Paula Zelisko, who works for Stop & Shop. She graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 2024 and will be attending Wagner College. Victoria is looking to work in the business side of the theater field.
Peter is the son of Local 1459 member Michael Theberge, who works for the Chicopee Public Schools. He graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 2024 and will be attending Springfield College. Peter plans on studying Biology and would like to do research in the field for Fish & Wildlife.
Bianca is a member of Local 1459 who works for Stop & Shop. She graduated from Agawam High School in 2024 and will be attending Western New England University. Bianca will be studying English and hopes to become an Editor and even publish a book in the future.
Everyone should be very proud to have won this most prestigious Union honor, since recipients of this scholarship must exemplify academic excellence, scholastic achievement and pride in UFCW Local 1459.
Certainly, we at UFCW Local 1459 are proud to be part of ensuring that talent, motivation, intellectual excellence and union pride are duly rewarded. We know that no matter which institution of higher learning that these recipients graduate from, they will always remember that a Union helped them achieve their academic goals. Thus, we wish them the very best of fortune in their future endeavors and once again, we congratulate them on being exemplary scholars!
