As UFCW 1459 continues to fight for their members, I am pleased to announce another victory on the arbitration front. An employee at PMI, which services Westover AFB in Chicopee, was terminated in November just days before her allotment of personal time for the upcoming year was to be granted.
The arbitration for this employee took place in June and the arbitrator ruled in favor of the Union as the argument was the company did not follow the steps of progressive discipline as suggested in the CBA and in the company’s own handbook. The employee has won their job back and all wages and benefits lost during this time period must be restored. Remember no Union, no arbitration.
