See some of the scholarships available to Local 1459 members below

UFCW Local 1459 believes in advancing the education of our members and their families.  Several academic scholarships are available through your local, your international, and our partners in the labor movement.

$8,000 UFCW Local 1459 Scholarship Fund
                    8 awards of $1,000
For consideration, click here for a scholarship application. Must be a High School Senior or currently in College to apply. Applications are being accepted until May 1st.

UFCW Charity Foundation Scholarship Program
The 2024 online applications are now being accepted for the UFCW Charity Foundation Scholarship from any student who has graduated from high school, will be graduating in the spring of 2024, or received their GED. This year the application will be available from February 12th – May 12th, 2024. The Charity Foundation will award at least eight (8) scholarships worth up to $8,000 each over a four-year period to UFCW members or their unmarried dependents under the age of 20.

Gerard L. Pellegrini Scholarship offers grants to members of locals affiliated with the Pioneer Valley Central Labor Council, or members’ spouses or legal dependents.  Four (4) $1,000.00 grants will be awarded to students who will attend (or are attending) college.  Two (2) $500.00 grants will be awarded to persons engaged in building trades apprenticeships.  Applications are available through the PVCLC (413) 732-7970 or by contacting Pellegrini, Seeley, Ryan & Blakesley, P.C. at (413) 785-5300. The Vermont AFL-CIO has two scholarships available.  Entries are encouraged from any Vermont student who is a dependent child of a member of a union affiliated with the Vermont State Labor Council (UFCW Local 1459 is affiliated).  Please contact their Montpelier office at (802) 223-5229 for more information.
